Jane's Western State Capitols Trip

The American Volkssport Association sponsors a special patch/t-shirt award package for walkers who manage to walk each and every one of the fifty State capitols in these great United States as well as the national capitol, Washington D.C.  (see link)

Of course, it is not the patch/t-shirt that is the important part (yeah, right) but the challenge of the goal.  Personally, there are a number of states I've never been to and if I'd seen three or four State capitol buildings before I started this quest, I would have been lucky.

For the first part of my state capitol quest I spent seventeen days in November, 2001 walking eight of the western state capitols.  There were also a few national parks I couldn't resist along the way.  I used Amtrak, Greyhound and Hertz, and never missed a scheduled walk despite a tight timeline.

Thanks to all of the regional clubs who make these beautiful walks possible!  Below is my itinerary.  For pictures and descriptions of each walk, click on the link below.
