On the Trail in the Northwest:
Shoreline YRE 451

This is a new route for 2002 for this older Shoreline YRE.  The route takes advantage of a number of greenbelts in Shoreline (an urban community just north of Seattle).

The first large greenbelt section is a natural woodsy/trail area in a large apartment complex.  Despite the fact that you are never probably more than a hundred yards from a major road, this greenbelt gives the illusion of being very secluded.

After wandering around in this area for a while, the YRE route takes you down quite a large and busy road getting you to the next area of greenbelts, Lake Ballinger and a golf course.  Though the route getting there is not too exciting, the lake is quite pretty and there is a nice park with restrooms, water fountains, etc. which makes a good spot for a break.

The final section of the YRE takes you through a nice waterfront residential area as you make your way back towards the busiest part of Shoreline and the Starbucks starting point.

This is a good after-work walk, particularly if you are live nearby.  The route manages to wring the most out of Shoreline's park system.

This is an Emerald City Wanderers YRE.
