On the Trail in the Northwest:
Lord Hill Event, Feb 9, 2002

The Lord Hill event was put on by Four Plus Foolhardly Folks at the Lord Hill Regional Park near Snohomish.

As a fan of 'hiking' type volkswalks, I was looking forward to this one.  Lord Hill was a tough walk -- a 12K, 3+ walk that had some very steep hills and plenty of mud to go around for everybody.  But it was certainly worth the effort.

Most of the route  was on wide or narrow natural surface hiking trails through dense woods.  The route designers did a terrific job of taking us on little side trips off the main trail to particularly nice ponds or viewpoints.

And the views were terrific.  They don't call the park "Lord HILL" for nothing.  Yes, we climbed lots of hills ourselves, but the entire park is also on a high point.  We were treated to magnificent views of the surrounding valley, Mt. Baker and the Cascades.

It's always a treat to find a new, beautiful park in Washington.  A hearty thanks to Four Plus for introducing us to Lord Hill.
